ANAHUAC, TEXAS
”ALLIGATOR CAPITAL OF TEXAS” Anahuac (pronounced “anna-WHACK”) was established in the 1830’s by the Mexican Government as the capital of Texas. Texans first began opposition to the Mexican Government at Fort Anahuac which ended in Texas winning independence from Mexico in 1836. The area has many attractions including boating, fishing, bird watching, hunting, waterways, wildlife, historical sites, and great natural surroundings.
